Casa Ametza
Casa Ametza means Dream House in Basque! Casa Ametza is a block of 6 newly constructed studio appartments in the town of Brasschaat, just 15 minutes from Antwerp. It is situuated in one of the green parks, next to a sports facility with a swimming pool.
The 6 holiday holiday houses are each developed for people with specific accessibility needs. All holiday houses are wheelchair accessible, the interior is very spacious and the openings with sliding doors are wide ( over 100 cm / over 39 inches). The bathrooms have a wheel-in shower, shower chair, a toilet with grab rails on both sides and a lowered wash basin with two sinks. The kitchen has also been made accessible with space underneath the counter. Each holiday house has a terrace with furniture and a garden.
One holiday house, Orange, has a ceiling hoist and a bath.
NB. We have since discovered that the hoist is only for the bath. There is not a hoist in the bedroom although a mobile hoist can be made available at additional charge. We have decided to leave the details on CHuC so that if you come across it on another website you will be aware there are no facilities to transfer from chair to bed and vv.

** Remember to take your own sling! ** Most accommodation providers do not provide you with a sling for hygiene reasons so remember to take along your own and be comfortable in something you are used to. Most slings are'universal' fitting but if you are not sure please contact the accommodation provider.
