I've used this hotel quite a few times because of them having a hoist, would thoroughly recommend it.

trip adviser July 2018. There are very few hotels with a hoist in the bedroom anywhere in the UK. This is what made our three night stay to see the athletics in Birmingham possible. It is fabulous that the hotel has this facility but unfortunate that check in staff are not aware that it is room 229 and 229 only. We were allocated 225 a disabled access room but no hoist. Room 229 is also an interconnecting room. I called ahead to the hotel, I advised the reservation staff but still had the very real worry that we would have to turn around and drive another 5 hours back home. No hoist, no stay. In the future I will speak to the manager in person however difficult this may be to achieve. The room I thought was very big. The hoist rail/bed configuration means not much room to hoist from chair to bed but possible for us. There is a plug by the right hand side bed side. The hoist rail in bathroom we did not use, appears that shower curtain goes around hoist runway so could not actually get into the bath? A bit of an angle but could get on toilet seat OK I assume. The hoist stopped working during our stay again causing real concern. It turns out that it was nothing to do with charging it up but that the battery needed to be taken out/put back in to 're-set' it. After this worked as normal but this b******d up our morning. Room 229 is on same floor as reception/restaurant/bar. To access gym we had to go back outside to main gym entrance. The hotel is only a couple of floors but appears not to have any lift, so for room 229 you can't get out any of the other doors and need to go via reception. At end of corridor there is an evacuation chair for one flight of chairs. There was a wedding on when we were there no noise in room 229. I though food was good choice (vegetarian) and good enough at 10.30pm. Breakfast offer 2 for 1. Breakfast was excellent. There is an outside seating area by the bar if sunny. In all the hotel was better than I expected. Was a great location, with the sat nav we got in and out of Birmingham just fine. Parking is the dreaded parking eye which you need to tap in your registration at reception. There are about 5 disabled places by the entrance and many, many parking places. photos on trip adviser.

The ceiling hoist installed by Prism Medical (Movement2 Division) is split into separate components in the bedroom and bathroom due to the varying ceiling heights and services within the false ceiling. It was unfortunately not possible to make the track continuous from one room to the other but there are fixed ceiling track hoists in both rooms, so unlike some other hotels there is no need to physically transfer a transportable hoist and these have powered traverse too.
The track in the bedroom covers the full width of the bed and curves around to one side to give a good choice of transfer point from chair to hoist. The bathroom is an H track which gives access to anywhere in the room. Both rooms are equipped with Freeway T200M hoists (200Kg SWL) and there is a 19" wide Freeway T40 shower/commode chair should you prefer to use that.

This beautiful, eco-friendly hotel has a stunning setting. There's ample accessible parking (make sure you park at the top of the hill if you don't want to wheel/make your Personal Assistant trundle your stuff up it!) and the space inside was very generous.
Beware though: the bed in the room with the hoist is a double which CANNOT be separated, or moved at all, and despite the fact that people with lower access needs are free to book a twin room, there is no interest in giving a hoist user that equality of service. They do have a Z-bed on wheels but will only hand it over under protest as it's not robust enough for very heavy adults, so they want to limit it's use to under-12s. My PA tells me it's actually perfectly comfy!

Fantastic place to stay! We don’t live too far and as a young couple, enjoy some time away from family and in a double bed for a change. This is our home away from home! We tend to stay here on special occasions, a few times a year over the last 4 years. We can’t fault it! 2 hoists - one for bedroom, one for bathroom. Surprisingly it’s the same ceiling hoist that we use at home which makes things easier. There are various sling sizes in the wardrobe but we do bring our own. The staff can’t do more for you, very attentive. They are happy to extend check out times by 2-3 hours for no charge so that we have ample time for our morning routine. Breakfast is amazing! As a coeliac, they cater well for gluten free. We’re going again next week to celebrate Valentines Day.

VOCO - Leicester - an IHG hotel
(Formerly Hotel Brooklyn)
Described as one of the most accessible hotels in the UK, design specialists Motionspot have produced a remarkable experience for their guests. They have an accessible room with a ceiling track hoist running in a recessed track that also doubles as a lighting feature. The room has a standard double bed but this can be replaced with a profiling one.
VOCO is located between Aylestone Road and Welford Road on the southern edge of the city centre. It adjoins the Leicester Tigers rugby stadium and is across the road from the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Our aim is to make all guests stays as enjoyable as possible as if you are spending a night at home. That’s why we created our ‘Liberty’ suites. We have 10 Adapted Bedrooms with cool design to make life easier and the ambience more appealing. There are super wide lifts, special assistance for guests with hearing impairments and our Hampson Suite have its own electric hoist. The ceiling track has been designed to hoist guests from the bed into a mobile shower chair which can then access all areas of the bathroom (toilet, basin and shower). Please note that there is not a ceiling track hoist in the bathroom although this is being reviewed for future Brooklyn hotel projects. Guests wanting to use the ceiling track hoist are requested to bring their own hoist slings.
