Reviews of Clober Farm
Elizabeth “I used Clober Farm for an overnight stay when travelling down from Dundee to a Rugby match at Scotstoun. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and my only regret was not booking a few more days so as to really enjoy the house! It’s so reasonably priced compared to a hotel or B&B, and you know exactly what you’re getting; there’s no worry about which definition of ’accessible’ has been used when describing the facilities, everything has been thought about with contemporary, independent living at its core.”

Scotland - Scottish Borders - Melrose
Eildon Holiday Cottages
Eildon Holiday Cottages are located at the foot of the majestic Eildon Hills in Melrose with stunning views over the Tweed valley and the beautiful Scottish Borders Countryside. As well as the inspiring Scottish landscapes the Scottish Borders has so much to offer visitors to the region including a long list of castles and historic buildings and an interesting mix of events going on such as the Melrose rugby 7s and the Borders Book Festival. Melrose is located approximately 35 miles south of Edinburgh and there is a direct train line in to the city centre which takes just under an hour and is wheelchair accessible.
Our six holiday cottages, ranging from one to three bedrooms, were originally designed from the realisation that it was impossible for families with disabled and severely disabled members to find any suitable self-catering holiday accommodation with facilities for all the family to take a holiday together. The strength of the complex is that able-bodied and disabled visitors can holiday together without differentiation. Disabled people can holiday alone (independent wheelchair user), with family, or with professional carers living in the cottage to provide the necessary support.
Our wheelchair accessible cottages are graded Category 1 – the best possible Tourist Board grading for wheelchair accessibility.
Two Cottages have optional ceiling tracking hoists - Langrig has a Spectra hoist that tracks from the bedroom into a wet-room shower and Single Tree Cottage has a Freeway hoist that tracks from the bedroom into a bathroom with a large bathtub with over-bath shower. Portable hoists are also available and can be used in all of the holiday cottages.
All have at least one bedroom on the ground floor level, with either a bathroom or wet-room shower room. There are grab rails in bath and shower rooms and let-down rails beside WCs. There is ample space for side-loading to WCs.
Electric profiling beds, pressure relieving mattress systems, shower chairs and a range of other equipment is available for guests to use.

Scotland - Dumfries & Galloway - Annan
The Moat House
The Moat House - Annan is a 200 year old historic property in the Royal Burgh of Annan, in the little explored Scottish gem of Dumfries and Galloway. The property sleeps up to 12 people in five very large bedrooms, four of which are wheelchair accessible with one being on the ground floor. There is a platform lift connecting the two floors which has low level controls and is large enough for an electric wheelchair and one other person, with good turning space at the entrances, top and bottom. There are X-Y ceiling track hoists in two of the bedrooms (one bedroom with a profiling double and one with two profiling single beds) and another in one of the two wet rooms. The third wheelchair accessible bedroom can be used as a Super-king-size or twin room whilst the fourth can be configured as a single or twin. The fifth (unfortunately non wheelchair accessible) bedroom is accessed via 3 steps and contains a king-size double bed and a double sofa bed. It is capable of sleeping up to four people.
The two wet rooms are both large and allow toilet transfer from left and right. The downstairs bathroom has an adult sized rise and fall changing/shower bed and is open plan allowing easy access for the adult and child sized wheeled shower chairs available. The downstairs bathroom also has Closomat toilet. Both bathrooms have grab rails and low level sinks and emergency pull cord alarms. The upstairs bathroom also has a shower seat
The farmhouse style kitchen/dining room is very well equipped and large enough to hold a 14 place table with clear wheelchair access along one long and short side. The induction hob and low profile sink are on a rise and fall system so no excuses -everyone can cook and wash up! Although there is a dishwasher to help out here. There is plenty of accessible storage at low level in pull out cupboards and drawers, this in combination with the four conventional and microwave ovens/grills and large fridge freezer should make catering for a large group a relatively straightforward affair.
Restoring this property has been a family project but it has been a long, daunting and arduous task so unfortunately The Moat House's garden will not be available this year although the castle park is accessible just 50m away via the front access... but watch this space... the intention is that a fully accessible sensory garden, patio and BBQ area will be available for 2017.
